@DarrenDreger: @mike_p_johnson says according to Doan Toronto, Van, NYR, Philly, Nash and Pitt were all in the mix. Leafs confirm they made strong pitch.
That is exactly what they will try and exactly what they will get. If over half the teams are really losing money then salaries will continue to get scaled back. Once the lockout starts, players will go to Russia or other leagues in Europe at significantly reduced salaries which plays right into the NHL's hands. They will prove yet again that they will play for pretty much anything because despite what the players say, they have it pretty good. - BigStew
That is the biggest misnomer to me.
What players are saying they have it bad?
What they are saying is exactly what I wrote : when will the scalebacks be enough? This time? The next time?
I can easily see this happening another two to three times until each owner is all but guaranteed a profit.

Amerks look stacked now. going to have to go see a few games
And the softball game was cool to see. Wish I could have stayed to watch more. Was cool to see them just out having fun away from the rink when most of them looked pretty mad coming on and off the ice. I asked Miller about if the guys had any feeling the lockout might be avoided. He laughed and gave me a sarcastic no

Hodgson will earn $65,000 in AHL Rochester. he'll take a substantial haircut from the $787,500 that he would earn in Buffalo.
Garth,
Do you even listen to yourself?!?!?!?!
For crying out loud! HODGSON WOULD NOT GET PAID OTHERWISE, when the lockout starts. It's not a "haircut", as you so cleverly stated. It's actually good news for Cody, as he would be getting paid. You think the kid is crying because he's getting a $65,000 payche(que) instead of nothing?!?!
These are the reasons why you should quit as Sabres blogger.
